IAS/SIR Speaker Series: Kirk Robertson

DC Career Paths in International Policy, Aid and Commerce: The Hill, Executive Branch, NGOs and Business

This past Friday, International & Area Studies partnered with the Government and Public Policy Work Group from the Career Center to welcome Kirk Robertson to Washington University. With a background in finance, business, public service, foreign affairs, and national security, Robertson was able to speak with students on a variety of topics from international development finance and impact investing to navigating the plethora of employment opportunities within Washington DC. Beyond the extensive factual information and technical advice that Robertson offered, he was also able to share valuable suggestions on how millennials and ‘boomers’ can best understand each other and collaborate in a workplace setting. Most importantly, he encouraged students to use their esteemed education and global experiences to positively impact the world in any position or career field they choose to pursue.
