Keynote Speaker: Fred Ssewamala PhD
Fred Ssewamala is a Professor of Social Work and International Affairs at Columbia University in New York and; the Founding Director of the International Center for Child Health and Asset Development (ICHAD) at Columbia University. In the past 10 years, Dr. Ssewamala has been the Principal Investigator on multiple research grants funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health. His global work focuses on advancing and broadening knowledge about social protection, and innovative economic empowerment/strengthening interventions aimed at improving the developmental outcomes and life chances of marginalized and vulnerable children and youth, including those affected by HIV/AIDS. Ssewamala holds a Master’s Degree and PhD in Social Work, with a focus on social and economic development policy, from Washington University in St. Louis.
